Our Founders

In Africa, amidst adversity, people work tirelessly to better their circumstances and the lives of others in their families and broader community.

Gestures of selfless giving and caring for one another is an integral part of what keeps Africa’s people hopeful and enables the continents transformation of tragedy into triumph. Our founders have experienced firsthand the kindness and generosity of others.

Born from their commitment to continue this age-old African culture of Ubuntu, their leadership is dedicated to uplifting others, fostering a brighter future for Africa and the world.

Most of their giving has been private but the need and challenges are great, and we hope that the Motsepe Foundation giving will encourage others in Africa and other emerging economies to give and make the world a better place.
