Tribute to Gogo Sizane

We are saddened by Gogo Sizane’s passing. This is a huge loss to South Africa and to the Rural Women’s Movement. It’s a loss to women empowerment.

“When a woman of Gogo Ngubane Sizane’s stature passes on, not only is it a loss to her family, but to women all over the country.”  Says Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, the CEO of the Motsepe Foundation. “In particular, it is a loss for women in rural communities, whose empowerment she championed and whose lives she directly touched.“

Gogo Sizane was a 2020 recipient of The Shining Light Award from the Motsepe Foundation for her work  in empowering women in rural communities. This award recognizes women who lead and champion women empowerment in various sectors.

The Motsepe Foundation’s Centre for Gender Equality and Leadership  will continue with the work that Gogo Sizane was passionate about, in order to ensure the social and economic empowerment of women in South Africa.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
