The ABC Motsepe League playoffs will take place from Monday, 28 June to 3 July 2021 in Nelspruit, with the qualifying nine teams competing for the title of 2021 National Champions.

The confirmed participating teams, representing the winners of each province, are: BCM Stars FC (EC), Mangaung Unite (FS), Leruma United (Gauteng), Umvoti FC (KZN), The Dolphins (Limpopo), FC Sivutsa NPC (Mpumalanga), Hungry Lions FC (NC), Platinum City Rovers (NW), and Glendene United FC (WC).

Due to strict Covid-19 regulations, the upcoming ABC Motsepe national playoffs will be closed to all spectators, members of the media and scouts.

The two teams to reach the final will be promoted into the National First Division (NFD) GladAfrica championship contributing to the pipeline of talent.

Following a successful run at the 2020 ABC Motsepe League playoffs, the 2020 National Champions Bizana Pondo Chiefs from the Eastern Cape allocated a portion of their winnings to procure soccer kits for the 48 local teams of Bizana. To support their professional ambitions, the Motsepe Foundation and Mamelodi Sundown’s organised a soccer clinic, to upskill the young players in Bizana with access to renowned coaches in the industry.

“The ABC Motsepe League provides a platform for emerging players to improve their talents and gain entry into professional networks. For the winning teams, who show their capability and dedication on the field, the League provides financial resources to further their aspirations. The teams that participate in the league represent a burgeoning youth demographic who are seeking opportunity through a sport that they are passionate about. Guiding these young people through training initiatives, access to resources and access to networks improves the quality of our national soccer teams, whilst also developing an ecosystem that creates opportunity for many other industries to grow,” Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Cofounder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation.

The draw for this year’s tournament was conducted at SAFA House on Wednesday, 23 June 2021. A line-up of the matches are attached.
